Xingyi boasts a long history and brilliant culture. This magical land is home to various ethnic groups, including Bouyei, Miao, Hui, and Bai, and is rich in ethnic costume cultural resources. On February 11-12 (the second and third day of the first lunar month), “Wellness Resort & Humanistic Xingyi” 2024 Wanfenglin Early Spring Joyful Tour & Second Wanfenglin Rapeseed Flower Festival, featuring the Fuzi Field Vibrant Costume Show, took place in Fuzi Field of Wanfenglin Scenic Area.

A unique ethnic costume fashion show attracted numerous spectators, showcasing a blend of tradition and modernity, as well as a wonderful fusion of heritage and innovation. This visual feast of ethnic culture presented the aesthetic philosophy of ethnic costumes through three themes: “Inheritance”, “Evolution”, and “Joy”.

As a multi-ethnic settlement, the clothing of various ethnic groups in Xingyi exhibits stylistic differences due to regional, ethnic, and custom variations. In this grand costume show, the designers creatively blended in the costume elements of various ethnic groups, offering the audience a refreshing experience. By preserving the aesthetic appeal of traditional clothing and incorporating the modern elements, the costume was more tailored for contemporary aesthetic preferences. Under the vibrant color and diverse styles of costume, it was the rich cultural connotations and historical narratives.

“Eight-note Seated Singing”, the intangible cultural heritage of the Bouyei ethnic group, filled the air with enchanting melodies played by ancient and modern instruments, elevating the atmosphere of the event to a climax. Local visitors hummed along with the tunes, while tourists from other places danced in the music. All people used their ethnic languages to tell Chinese stories, and held a unique audio-visual feast that showcased the harmonious scene of the Chinese nation as one family.

In the bustling event, visitors lined up to take photos with the performers. Young actors, dressed in ethnic costumes and wearing confident smiles, displayed and promoted the traditional culture of our Chinese nation.

The stunning peaks of Wanfenglin and the vast fields of rapeseed flowers served as a natural stage backdrop, magically mingling the ethnic culture and Eastern aesthetics. Thiseventnot only highlighted the charm of traditional ethnic attire of Xingyi, but also conveyed a sense of cultural confidence and a spirit of inheritance.
